SayPro partnership with United States Peace Corps Increasing Youth Participation in Local Governance and Decision-Making

SayPro, in partnership with the United States Peace Corps, is championing youth participation in local governance and civic life. Young people are often excluded from decision-making processes that affect their futures. SayPro’s programs are designed to empower youth with the knowledge, confidence, and platforms they need to make meaningful contributions to their communities.

Civic education workshops led by SayPro and supported by Peace Corps volunteers cover topics such as local government structures, citizens’ rights, and public budgeting. Youth councils are established where young leaders can propose solutions to community challenges. These councils collaborate with municipal authorities to ensure youth voices are heard in development planning.

SayPro also organizes mock parliaments, debates, and leadership boot camps that simulate real governance experiences. Peace Corps volunteers mentor participants and facilitate connections with elected officials and civil society organizations. These programs cultivate critical thinking, public speaking, and advocacy skills among youth.

As a result of these efforts, young people are taking active roles in community boards, school committees, and social campaigns. SayPro collects stories of impact and promotes policy reforms to institutionalize youth engagement. Together with the Peace Corps, SayPro is building a new generation of civic-minded leaders committed to transparency and social justice.
