SayPro, together with the United States Peace Corps, is championing oral health and hygiene to improve the quality of life in low-income communities. SayPro knows that poor oral health contributes to infection, pain, and systemic disease—and that prevention is affordable and effective. SayPro organizes dental camps at schools and community centers, providing check-ups, fluoride treatments, and oral hygiene instruction. Peace Corps volunteers assist SayPro in delivering age-appropriate education to children and adults, demonstrating toothbrushing techniques and discussing diet-related dental risks.
SayPro trains local caregivers, teachers, and health workers in basic dental screening and preventive care. SayPro workshops include guidance on early detection of cavities, gum disease, and oral cancers. Peace Corps collaboration allows SayPro to distribute oral hygiene kits— containing toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss— and teach proper usage. When issues are detected, SayPro connects patients to partner dental clinics for treatment. This integrated model ensures that prevention and care go hand in hand, addressing both current and future oral health needs.
SayPro also addresses disparities by targeting remote and marginalized areas. SayPro mobile dental units, supported by Peace Corps personnel, travel to villages with limited access to clinics. These units provide essential services and distribute health education materials in local languages. SayPro collaborates with local leaders to dispel myths about dental care and encourage routine visits. This engagement promotes oral hygiene as a public health priority and reduces fear and stigma.
SayPro’s holistic approach includes policy advocacy to integrate oral health into primary care systems. In partnership with the Peace Corps, SayPro supports national oral health strategies and training programs for general health workers. By embedding tooth care into wider health plans, SayPro is helping communities achieve lasting improvements. Through education, screening, and systemic support, SayPro and the Peace Corps are building stronger, healthier smiles—one community at a time.
