SayPro partnership with United States Peace Corps Supporting the Development of Local Job Placement Programs for High-School Dropouts

SayPro, in partnership with the United States Peace Corps, is supporting the development of job placement programs designed for high-school dropouts in South Africa. SayPro recognizes that early school leavers face high barriers to employment, and is determined to provide alternatives. These programs focus on matching youth with vocational training, apprenticeships, and entry-level job opportunities in their local communities. SayPro works with local businesses and training providers to bridge skill gaps and ensure job readiness. Peace Corps volunteers assist SayPro by introducing global best practices in career coaching. SayPro’s programs aim to restore dignity, opportunity, and hope for young job seekers.

SayPro’s job placement efforts begin with intensive career assessment and guidance. Young people receive support from SayPro mentors who help them identify their strengths and interests. SayPro then connects them with tailored short-term training programs, including in trades like plumbing, carpentry, agriculture, and hospitality. Peace Corps volunteers help facilitate resume writing workshops, interview preparation, and soft skills training. SayPro also partners with employers to create job shadowing and trial employment opportunities. The goal is to help each youth find a sustainable path forward. SayPro believes that meaningful employment is key to breaking cycles of poverty and marginalization.

SayPro’s programs don’t stop at placement—they include ongoing mentorship and progress tracking. Each participant is assigned a SayPro advisor to check in regularly and ensure they are thriving in their roles. SayPro also provides support for entrepreneurship, offering seed funding and business development training for youth interested in starting their own ventures. With Peace Corps input, SayPro organizes community job fairs and employer networking events. These initiatives build trust between employers and job-seeking youth. SayPro’s model is holistic, practical, and deeply rooted in local context to ensure real and lasting success for participants.

SayPro’s mission is to leave no youth behind, especially those who’ve faced educational setbacks. Its collaboration with the Peace Corps reflects a shared commitment to equity, empowerment, and second chances. SayPro believes in the untapped potential of every young person and is creating systems to help them succeed. These job placement programs offer a lifeline and a ladder toward a better life. By investing in these efforts, SayPro strengthens communities, reduces youth unemployment, and builds a more inclusive economy for South Africa’s future. SayPro is building hope, one opportunity at a time.
