SayPro South Africa Partnership on Erasmus+ Project Erasmus+ for Addressing Gender-Based Violence in South Africa

SayPro is using the Erasmus+ platform to address gender-based violence (GBV) across South Africa by promoting education, advocacy, and community-based interventions. SayPro works with schools, NGOs, and local authorities to implement GBV prevention programs. Through Erasmus+, SayPro collaborates with European experts to design effective strategies rooted in equality and human rights. Workshops facilitated by SayPro empower men and women to challenge harmful norms and build healthier relationships. SayPro’s efforts include awareness campaigns, trauma support, and legal literacy initiatives. The Erasmus+ partnership allows SayPro to scale these interventions nationwide, reaching high-risk communities with tailored, impactful responses to GBV.

Erasmus+ enables SayPro to learn from international best practices in combating gender-based violence and adapt them to South African contexts. SayPro leads cross-cultural exchanges where local facilitators engage with European gender equality advocates. These experiences help SayPro improve program design, ensuring they are inclusive and survivor-centered. SayPro also trains community leaders and social workers to identify early warning signs and provide timely interventions. Through Erasmus+, SayPro develops educational resources, including videos and guidebooks, that are distributed across schools and youth centers. SayPro’s work helps foster a culture of respect, empathy, and accountability to break cycles of violence.

SayPro Charity NPO focuses on empowering vulnerable groups, particularly women and girls, through comprehensive GBV prevention strategies. Erasmus+ funding supports SayPro in conducting gender sensitivity training and establishing safe spaces in communities. SayPro collaborates with healthcare providers and law enforcement to improve victim support services. This includes referral systems, psychological counseling, and legal aid. SayPro ensures that its programs are accessible to rural and under-resourced areas, promoting equity in access to protection. Through Erasmus+, SayPro strengthens its partnerships and multiplies the impact of GBV prevention programs across different provinces of South Africa.

SayPro views GBV not only as a social crisis but also as a barrier to national development. By leveraging Erasmus+, SayPro brings stakeholders together—governments, civil society, and academia—to address root causes. SayPro measures success through reduced incidence rates and improved survivor well-being. Continuous learning and innovation help SayPro remain agile in response to emerging GBV trends. Erasmus+ projects enable SayPro to scale tested models and advocate for policy reform. SayPro’s mission is to ensure all South Africans, regardless of gender, live free from violence, with dignity and full access to their rights.
